About

Ever since I quit my media job in late 2021, where I reported on social justice issues for two years, I’ve made it my mission to live life on my own terms.

Like many people, the pandemic forced me to rethink my priorities (which I wrote about for both Fortune and The Muse) and truly grapple with the limited time I have on this planet. My vision for my future includes putting my mental health first and surrounding myself with people I truly enjoy being around, both in my work and personal life.

So, I decided to start my freelance writing business. I’ve gotten to work with amazing clients, like mental health companies, start-ups focused on social good, and universities, for whom I write about topics I care about and contribute to bettering the world through them. Freelance writing isn’t just about the writing. It’s taught me to say “no” to opportunities that don’t suit me, given me a crash course in business and marketing skills (a perpetual lesson), and introduced me to people who I never would have crossed paths with if I hadn’t struck out on my own. And all of this happened in under a year.

But I wasn’t always a professional writer and journalist.

Before I earned my master’s in journalism from Northwestern University, I worked in global health for humanitarian organizations such as the United Nations and the American Red Cross. But the most eye-opening glimpse into international development happened when I lived in Mozambique, while serving in the Peace Corps. Without these experiences, I wouldn’t be the writer and journalist I am today. They’ve taught me listening skills (another perpetual lesson that’s never truly finished), deepened my hunger to learn about other people and cultures, and solidified my ethics as a writer and journalist to do no harm.

I’m excited to discover who else I’ll have the opportunity to work with and encourage you to get in touch.
